SF Giants CEO Larry Baer was caught on video having an physical altercation with his wife. They were in a public park near SF City Hall.
On Friday, a video was posted by TMZ. It shows Baer’s wife, Pam, in a chair when he reached over her to grab for a cellphone. She fell to the ground screaming “Oh my God!” Baer then walked away from the I’m scene.
On Monday, the team said Baer is taking a leave of absence.
This has been all over the national news for the last few days.
Here’s what MLB said:
“Major League Baseball is aware of the incident and, just like any other situation like this, will immediately begin to gather the facts. We will have no further comment until this process is completed.”
All MLB owners, players, and personnel are subject to the joint domestic violence, sexual assault, and child abuse policy adopted in 2015.
It’s the first time in a long time that a member of a Bay Area sports team — not named the 49ers — is in trouble for a physical altercation involving a girlfriend or spouse.
