AWARDS: Best and Worst of the Week — Residential Eviction Moratorium and Patty Mahan

By Robert Haugh

The Good — The Leg Drop Award:

The City Council adopted a moratorium on residential evictions because of COVID-19. It expires in 45 days, on May 8, 2020, unless extended by the City Council. But it gives people who have been laid off or lost income some peace of mind for now.

The Bad — The Jabroni Award:

Former Councilwoman Patty Mahan said City officials used public resources to campaign in favor of the March 2020 ballot measure. She was wrong. The state watchdog dismissed her complaint. It’s not the first time Mahan has made a frivolous charge about her colleagues or the City. It’s too bad she didn’t retire more gracefully.

  1. This is not the “Santa Clara Way” at all! In fact I am embarrassed that anyone would even joke about that. This is however a sad way to end a very impressive run for any local family.

  2. That is not the Santa Clara way, that”s the Mahan way. I can not believe how she changed from a great mayor to an an angry hateful person. She hates everyone on the City Council except for 2 people and we all know who they are. She will always hate the rest of them. I don’t hate her, i offered to bring her the Body of Christ when she was in the hospital. She needs to get better in her head, not just her body.

I guess that’s the Santa Clara Way!
