Silicon Valley Power to Give Santa Clara Residents $30 Utility Bill Credit to Help with COVID-19 Crisis

By Robert Haugh

Yesterday, Mayor Lisa Gillmor announced that Silicon Valley Power (SVP) will give Santa Clara residents a $30 credit on our utility bill.

It’ll show up in the next month or two, Gillmor said in her brief community update on the City’s YouTube channel.

It’s not city general fund money. The funds come from SVP’s public benefits program. It’s a one-time credit that will show up in a month or two on the utility bills, according to Gillmor.

Kudos to SVP and our city leadership for helping out Mission City residents during difficult times.

Gillmor also announced that on May 5, City staff will outline a rental assistance program to help low-income Santa Clarans who are in danger of becoming homeless.

The City believes it can secure $500,000 to $1 million in federal funds for the program.

Let’s hope they can secure those funds quickly to help the most vulnerable in our city.
