AWARDS: Best and Worst of the Week — No Sales Tax Increase, But Caserta is Still Getting Full Salary

By Robert Haugh

The Good —The Leg Drop Award

The Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors decided to leave a sales tax increase off the ballot. Kudos to Supervisors Joe Simitian and Mike Wasserman for realizing the County budget has gone up a lot over the years and people are in financial trouble these days.

The Bad — The Jabroni Award:

It’s a tie this week.

Supervisors Cindy Chavez, Dave Cortese, and Susan Ellenberg voted to put the tax on the ballot but they didn’t have a supermajority. We would have had the highest sales tax in the state if they had their way.

The Santa Clara Unified School District continues to pay disgraced former Councilman Dominic Caserta his full salary and benefits as a teacher. He was credibly accused by numerous females in his classes of sexual harassment and sexual abuse and remains on the Creep Sheet.

  1. Our children are not safe in Santa Clara Unified School District. They are paying Caserta, a serial sexual predator his full salary for over 2 years and continue to pay him for his decades of sexually harassing our kids. This gives any/all others working for SCUSD incentive to violate our children knowing if they get caught they will continue to get full pay. Makes me sick
