New COVID-19 Rules Announced for Youth Sports in Santa Clara County

Yesterday, the County Announced new rules for youth sports since we are now in the purple tier

The following team sports will be allowed:

  • Cross Country
  • Track & Field
  • Swimming & Diving
  • Tennis
  • Golf
  • Ski/snowboard

Santa Clara County schools may compete against each other or schools from outside our county as long as they border us. Those counties are: 

  • Alameda
  • San Mateo
  • Santa Cruz
  • San Benito
  • San Joaquin
  • Stanislaus
  • Merced

Athletes and coaches must wear a face covering. While in the pool, swimmers and water polo athletes do not have to wear a mask.

For the youngest athletes under 8, a mask is only recommended. For those under 2, no mask is required.

Participants may not share water bottles and other personal equipment.

Family members will be allowed at events but other fans are prohibited.

  1. Glad to hear some sports are coming back. That said, this is going to be tough on the two remaining Spring High School, Baseball and Softball, given this will now be the second year in a row they will be shut down.
    In a year filled with disappointments, this is just one more.
