AWARDS: Best and Worst of the Week in Santa Clara — Walmart and Suds Jain

By Robert Haugh

The Good — The Leg Drop Award

Walmart will offer COVID-19 vaccines at their Stevens Creek Boulevard location. That gives Mission City residents another nearby option to get shots.

The Bad — The Jabroni Award:

Councilman Suds Jain got confirmation this week that he can’t vote on downtown Santa Clara developments. His wife Lori works at Santa Clara University causing a financial conflict. We reported it last year when he was running for office. He denied it and misled voters.

  1. I do not believe that Suds Jain lied or misled the public on his ability to participate on downtown matters. He relied on advice from the Fair Political Practices Commission & the City Attorney.
I do not always agree with Suds but I believe he votes his conscience and what he believes is best for the City. What more can you ask?

  2. This is a bit misleading. What Brian Doyle said was that he would write to get a ruling on the subject. Let’s not give the public a false narrative. He is our Council member for District 5 and so far I have no complaints. He is doing his job keeping his District informed and trying to initiate change for the good of the District.

    • So sorry mary that you drank the coolaid.
Thought you supported your friend Bob.

  3. Suds is very two faced. Before the election he was out and about talking with folks. The entire time he was untruthful regarding his ability to vote on downtown issues. Now that he is in office, he represents the 49ers and the green new, deal not looking for district 5 or SC input.

No champion for the Downtown efforts due to the lies by Suds Jain. Thanks for nothing. I bet some of the downtown folks feel foolish or fooled…

I am very disappointed with Suds Jain.
