Santa Clara University Women’s Soccer Plays in National Championship Today

The Santa Clara University (SCU) women’s soccer team plays for a national championship today.

The undefeated SCU Broncos (11-0-1) will play undefeated No. 1 Florida State (13-0-2) in the 2020 DI NCAA women’s soccer championship at 2:30 p.m. PT in Cary, North Carolina.

Florida State has won its last two games on penalties after playing to scoreless ties against Virginia in the semifinals and Duke in the quarterfinals.

Santa Clara beat No. 2 North Carolina, 3-1, on goals by Izzy D’Aquila, Kelsey Turnbow and Skylar Smith.

The Broncos are making their third appearance in the title game. They won the 2001 title and were runner-ups in 2002. Florida State won the championship in 2014 and 2018. 

The game will be televised on ESPN2 and streamed by ESPN.

  1. Great to see a local team do well.
    Let’s hope they don’t have to face biological males playing on a women’s team.
    It will be a shame when girl’s and women’s sports are sacrificed on the alter of the woke religion and become a relic of the past. If the course does not change it is inevitable.
