The City Council comes back from its summer recess. Here are some key items from tomorrow’s meeting:
- Acceptance of the Preferred Framework Plan for the Downtown Precise Plan
- Resolution Increasing the Transient Occupancy Tax Rate from 9.5% to 11.5% effective January 1, 2022; and Introduction of an Ordinance Amending Section 3.25.030 of the Santa Clara City Code to Reflect the Increase in the Transient Occupancy Tax Rate
- Stadium Authority Financial Status Report for the Quarter and Fiscal Year Ending March 31, 2021
- Introduction of an All-Electric Reach Code Ordinance, including Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging, that Amends Chapter 15.36 (Energy Code) and Chapter 15.38 (Green Building Code) of Title 15 (Buildings and Construction) of the Santa Clara Municipal Code
Councilman Suds Jain seems to have a lot on his mind. Here’s what Jain wants to agendize for future meetings:
- Requesting to Place an Agenda Item at a Future Meeting to Discuss the Rules for who can serve on Boards and Commissions, and Committees
- Requesting to Place an Agenda Item at a Future Meeting to Consider Hiring an Ethics Consultant for Upcoming Elections
- Requesting to Place an Agenda Item at a Future Meeting to Discuss the use of Written Petition (Policy 030) by Members of the Public
- Requesting to Place an Agenda Item at a Future Meeting to Consider a Quarterly Report to Council of Legal Expenses to Outside Law Firms and any Settlement Costs (that can be disclosed) Once Cases are Settled
Yes, that does have a comedic ring to it, he wanting to hire an ethics advisor. No doubt someone selected by jed york. And will he have to get 20 signatures to get this on the agenda? Why control who can be on a commission? What a doofus.
Here we go again. Remember some of Councilmember Jain’s other great ideas, increase taxes on the small business’ in Franklin Sq., defund our police and fire departments, fire a hardworking City Attorney who stood up to Jain’s benefactor the 49ers, just to name a few.
Now Jain wants to severely limit the publics ability to participate in our City Council meetings by requiring Santa Clara citizens to gather twenty signatures before asking to place an item on the city council agenda and only residents would be allowed to petition the council excluding all small business owners (and others), that while they might own a business in Santa Clara they might live outside of the city limits, per Jain’s plan their concerns are not important enough to be heard.
Jain also agendized an item to hire an ethics advisor for the next election in 2022. Many think that might be a good idea, then we can ask the advisor what they think about then 2020 Council Candidate Jain’s lies he told to the voters of district 5 on his ability to vote on the downtown and university issues.
Suds Jain must truly hate Santa Clara.
