Disgraced Former Santa Clara Councilman Dominic Caserta Sells Home

By Robert Haugh

Disgraced Former Santa Clara Councilman Dominic Caserta sold his home. There’s speculation among his neighbors that he’s leaving the Mission City.

Yesterday, Caserta closed on the sale of his Old Quad home for $2 million. Wow. The list price was just under $1.6 million. Wow.

Caserta dropped out of his race for County Supervisor in May 2018 when his campaign staffers accused him of inappropriate sexual harassement and sexual abuse.  Caserta’s campaign manager resigned because of the allegations.

Later, it was discovered that Caserta had 15 sexual harassment complaints against him. They were from female students at Santa Clara High School where he was a teacher.

Caserta landed on the Creep Sheet that year. The publication is described as “the most complete list of public figures accused of sexual harassment or assault.” Caserta is still on it.

Caserta was suspended from his job after the allegations. But Santa Clara Unified School District (SCUSD) continued to pay him while they did an investigation. Since 2018, the district has not released any info about Caserta’s status or a settlement.

Foothill College where Caserta also taught finished a investigation in just 14 months. They concluded that he violated their sexual harassment policy.

Caserta is suing SCUSD for $38 million. Most local attorneys think the case is a joke and just an attempt by Caserta to scare the district into some type of settlement.

In 2021, Caserta was hired as a lobbyist to push flavored tobacco.

He’s made some visits to Santa Clara City Hall recently. Caserta met with Councilman Suds Jain twice, on April 13, 2021, and April 19, 2021. He met with Councilman Raj Chahal on April 22, 2021.

  1. I expect Suds will float the idea of flavored tobacco sales at the Youth Professional Soccer Fields. You know, just thinking outside the box for fundraising. Maybe sponsor a team.
