Today, KTVU’s Mornings on 2 will showcase Santa Clara as their Zip Trip. They’ll broadcast live from the Central Park Pavillon from 9 to 10 a.m. Santa Clarans are welcome.
Santa Clara News Online readers get the Leg Drop Award for helping pick the best places in the Mission City.
The Bad — The Jabroni Award:
The 49er Five get a Jabroni Award each for firing former City Attorney Brian Doyle without cause. Then they replaced him with a law firm for $900,000 for less than a year’s worth of work.
Santa Clara got a “legal fleecing.”
Editor’s Note: The 49er Five are Councilmembers Anthony Becker, Raj Chahal, Suds Jain, Karen Hardy and Kevin Park.
Jed York spent $3 million in November 2020 to elect Becker, Jain and Park. They were previously 0-6 in Santa Clara elections. Chahal and Hardy have received gifts from the team recently without reporting them.
The 49er Five meet with the team on an almost weekly basis and have voted to help the team win millions of dollars in concessions from the City since December 2020.
With the announcement of Becker’s run for mayor, now is the time to get his recall off the ground. Hard to run for mayor when trying to fend off a recall.
