Summer is winding down, but there are many great events this weekend and in the coming days. I hope to see you at some of the Santa Clara events.

Franklin Square Street Dance

Recently named “Best Cover Band in the Bay Area” as winners of the KFOX Radio Last Band Standing contest, The Houserockers are known for their eclectic, high energy, set lists that brings the music of The Rolling Stones, Earth Wind and Fire, Tower of Power, Stevie Wonder, Springsteen, Van Morrison and much more to life.

San Francisco Bay Area Aloha Festival

The Pacific Islanders’ Cultural Association (PICA) offers their talents in music and dance during this two-day alcohol and drug-free festival. Entertainment includes Pacific Islander music and Polynesian dance. Arts & crafts vendors, island cuisine, educational exhibits and workshops, and an “Ohana Korner” with simple games for the kids.

7th Annual San Jose Renaissance and Fantasy Fest

800 costumed performers will bring this festival to life with parades, pageants, and fun townsfolke, offering continuous entertainment of spectacular variety spread throughout the village. Features musicians, jugglers, and the ribaldry of actors drawing you even deeper into the fun. And to top it all off, take in a joust.


Westfield Trivia Night

Westfield Valley Fair

The event will be held on the outdoor Dining Terrace patio with a range of fun and entertaining trivia topics and special prizes. Space is limited, RSVP now.

80s End of Summer Bash

Friday, August 11

Central Park Library, 2635 Homestead Road, Santa Clara

7 to 10 p.m. 18+ only. Free.

Dress up in your favorite ’80s garb and come ready to dance (or not dance), sing ’80s karaoke, enter the Oasis (virtual reality) and more. We will have pizza, ice cream, a photobooth and rad music. This program is part of Adult Summer Reading and is sponsored by the Foundation & Friends of the Santa Clara City Library.
