County Fair Begins Today with Added Security

By Robert Haugh

The Santa Clara County Fair begins today and lasts four days through the weekend.

The Fair is celebrating its 75th birthday at the Santa Clara County Fairgrounds, 344 Tully Road, San Jose.  They have a new stage, new murals and fireworks every night.

Today from 1 to 5 p.m., admission will be just 75 cents in honor of the fair’s anniversary.

Since the tragic shooting at the Gilroy Garlic Festival, the Fair has increased security according to its organizers.

Cities Mural

A major feature of the Fair is a long mural celebrating each of Santa Clara County’s 15 cities and painted by more than 20 local artists.

Next week, we’ll feature any good selfies in front of the city of Santa Clara mural if you send them to us.

Music and Entertainment

There will be nightly music featuring tribute bands for Frank Sinatra, Journey and The Beatles, to hip-hop recording artist Drew Deezy.

Music headliners include  The Drifters, Horoscopes de Durange and American Idol finalist DeAndre Brackensick.

Other highlights of the 75th Santa Clara County Fair include:

  • Vietnamese Celebration on Friday, Aug. 2
