Santa Clara Appoints Patty Wong as New City Librarian

Patty Wong is the new Santa Clara City Librarian. She started this month.

Wong is the President of the American Library Association (ALA) for the 2021-2022 term. She is the first Asian American president of the ALA. 

She graduated from UC Berkeley and earned her Master of Library Science degree there, too.

Wong has worked at the Oakland Public Library, Oakland Unified School District, Berkeley Public Library, Stockton-San Joaquin County Public Library, and Yolo County Library.

In 2017 she was named the Director of Library Services for the Santa Monica Public Library.

Wong has been a part-time faculty at the San Jose State University School of Information since 2006.
