Lloyd Silveria Will Be Missed This Year, A Time When Santa Clara Needs Good Civic Leaders

By Lee Broughman

A pillar of our city has passed: Lloyd Silveria. He and his wonderful wife, Helen Cardosa Silveria were examples of people who gave great service and great love to our city. They were both dedicated to their faith, family, friends, and community.

Lloyd also retired from the City of Sant Clara Utility Department after years of service.

I personally witnessed their loving and caring hands. In 2015 the Mission City Community Fund honored them with the Austen Warburton Community Service Award for demonstrating that love and care in the community.

They belonged to St. Justin Catholic Church, Santa Clara Unified School District and gave hours of service to the St. Justin Stablemates, The Santa Clara Lions, The Santa Clara Senior Center, The Santa Clara Schools Foundation, and the Santa Clara Elks.

I wish everyone would have had a chance to know them and realize that they represented the true community of Santa Clara.

  1. I had the great good fortune to work with Lloyd at the City of Santa Clara for many years, and with his darling wife, Helen, through Mission City Community Fund. Two more kind, fun, and compassionate people you couldn’t have met anywhere – they were pillars of the Santa Clara community. God rest them both – we’re poorer for their loss.
