Eddie Souza Community Garden Invites Santa Clarans for Tours

By Robert Haugh

Now, that it looks like the heavy rains are behind us, the Everett N. “Eddie” Souza Community Garden invites residents to join its garden tours and Sunday Garden Shares.

The garden is located at 2380 Monroe Street near San Tomas Expressway. It offers a chance to explore demonstration beds, mini orchards and compost displays.

The garden tours take place on the second and fourth Wednesday of every month from 4:30 to 6 p.m. The tours are free and no registration is required.

Visitors can see the garden’s variety of plants and learn about sustainable gardening practices from experienced gardeners.

For those who can’t make it on weekdays, Sunday Garden Share events are held every Second Sunday from 10 to 11 a.m.

These events allow gardeners to share their harvests, exchange seeds and swap tips and tricks with fellow gardening enthusiasts. Participants are encouraged to bring their own garden bounty to share.

The garden shares are free and no registration is required, but masks are required for all participants and social distancing is encouraged.
