By Jeremy Schmidt, Santa Clara POA President
Dear Santa Clara Voters and Residents,
We at the Santa Clara Police Officers Association are deeply humbled by the overwhelming support shown by the defeat of Measure B with an overwhelming 72 percent vote.
Your resounding vote to reject Measure B speaks volumes. We recognize it as a clear message of trust and partnership.
The strong community-police relationship in Santa Clara is truly unique within the Bay Area. It’s a two-way street built on mutual respect and support. We are honored to serve you and strive to deliver exceptional service every day.
Your appreciation, large or small, makes a significant difference to Sant Clara police officers. From a kind word during a call for service to thoughtful gestures like the offer of coffee or meals brought to the headquarters, your positive interactions with us have a profound impact.
We are proud to say that many officers are drawn to serve in Santa Clara because of this very connection.
By rejecting Measure B, you’ve affirmed your right to influence the Santa Clara Police Department through the democratic process. This empowers you to hold politicians and the bureaucracy accountable, ensuring the department serves residents the way you envision.
Perhaps other communities could learn from and should follow Santa Clara’s lead.
We look forward to continuing to earn your trust and serve our community with the highest level of dedication. Thank you for taking an active role in shaping a safer, more connected Santa Clara.
In your service,
Jeremy Schmidt, Santa Clara POA President

This was such a show of solidarity, not a word I often use, that it is actually humbling. To think that there is hope our city will stand together and fend off the aggressive takeover effort from big sports. It makes the days brighter and me prouder of the city I choose to live in.
I am glad it lost. This whole election was a waste of time. The entire 4 year term of Jain has been a waste of time. Santa Clarans deserve better. There issues of housing, land use. Transportation the budget, that have second fiddle to the 49er saga. Sure there are issues where Howard and Kirk both disagree with me but they are buried by the endless tattering about Becker’s tantrums..
Time we get back.
I already knew how I was going to vote on this sham stunt by Suds, etc. But when a POA member came to my door, it solidified my choices. Proud to display my support with a sign. This whole thing was a no-brainer which is why it lost unanimously. No brains behind it!
