Santa Clara Police Chief Pat Nikolai will not be running for re-election this November so Mission City residents will elect a new Police Chief.
The Santa Clara Peace Officers’ Association (SCPOA) will hold a candidates forum for potential Police Chief candidates.
According to a POA representative, candidates will meet with POA members and answer questions in an open forum on June 19. It will be a fair and open process for all interested parties.
The POA is coming off a major victory last March with Measure B.
That was an attempt by the 49er Five to take away the rights of Santa Clarans to vote for the Police Chief.
The POA led a campaign against Measure B with mail, lawn signs and a billboard.
Measure B was defeated in a landslide with 72 percent voting no.
Because of the Measure B victory, Santa Clarans will have an opportunity to elect a Police Chief in November.

Yet again Sudhanshu Jain squeals like a stuck pig.

We Santa Clarans as “interested parties” asked for, hoped for, and wished for your so-called “fair and open process” when Behind closed doors you advocated for the 49er agreement against our City in favor of Jed’s benefit. Yea, you can respond by “for legal reasons we needed to keep it confidential.” We Santa Clarans are NOT as stupid as you believe we are. High probability that you and the 49er 5 tilted the scales of justice against us.
Citizens ought to be presumed innocent until proven guilty. Governments ought to be presumed guilty until proven otherwise. You sir are part of our city government that conceals and hides facts from its citizenry and now complains—to your shameful hatred of our police officers—that YOUR “participation” is demanded.
You sir, in an estimation, are unhinged and mentally disturbed. That is why I feel it is less necessary to engage one who is less mentally capable. Responding to Suds is like kicking a kitten… not good.
Suds has never challenged directly any post other than complain. He is a “drive-by” poster—he vomits some pablum in this forum and never responds substantively, or, if he does respond, his response is difficult to decipher as being relevant to points discussed. I do feel bad for him.

I dont belong to the poa. I do not pay dues. So i donr expect to go to their interviews. I am not a firefighter. So i dont ecpect t goo to their interviees. Note to suds. Were members of the public invited to his 49er meetings,,?

All candidate forums that I have attended allowed members of the public to attend. Many endorsement events were closed but not “candidate forums”.

Hi Suds, thanks so much for WASTING upwards of a million tax payer dollars on a “special election” to push your and the 49er’s agenda of changing the police chief to an appointed position. You did this despite every poll showing your position going down in flames, which it did. Good luck on your upcoming testimony in your cohort Becker’s trial next month. Are Becker’s $1,000 an hour private attorney’s guiding you as well??? Common sense says what Becker is charged with goes way beyond just himself.
Suds- Hold your own forum if you want. I’m sure they’ll be lining up for your endorsement.

Suds, It’s a membership meeting for local members. It says so (“ According to a POA representative, candidates will meet with POA members and answer questions in an open forum on June 19.”) and is no different that what other local unions do or than what the Labor Council does. It’s open to the membership. You misunderstood, that’s all. Hope this helps.
Hopefully the candidates have no connection with the 49ers. We. would like to elect an honest and unencumbered Chief of Police that the citizens and tax payers can trust.
