Santa Clarans enjoyed good weather at the 42nd annual Art & Wine Festival. Over 10,000 people attended the event over the September 14-15 weekend.
A big hit was the Measure I campaign sticker:
Maybe someone should nominate it for a city marketing campaign.
In addition to Measure I, candidates for city races used the opportunity to press the flesh with Santa Clara voters. Candidates who had booths included:
District One – Satish “Sunny” Chandra
District Four – Teresa O’Neill, Kevin Park
District Five – Suds Jain, David Kertes
District Six – Anthony Becker, Kelly Cox, George Guerra
Police Chief – Cory Morgan
City Clerk – Steve Kelly, Bob O’Keefe
Although Becker had a booth, he was the only candidate who didn’t have any campaign literature or signs.
It was a nice event. I saw a lot of the candidates chatting with people. I met George Guerra but did not feel he’s with the 49ers or a Becker buddy as you reported. His material wasn’t slick like it was paid for by a deep pocket.
I stand by my reporting on the previous story.
It was a great time as it always is. It is just a little too bad that it was cooler and windier than it normally would be.
Big community events like these which bring everyone together are a good reminder of how things could be if we all chose to put aside our differences or work around them in a common effort to better the common good.
While this may not apply equally to everyone it does apply to everyone.
