Comic Con Celebrates Comics at Santa Clara Central Park Library on October 12

The 7th Annual Santa Clara Library Comic Con aims to celebrate the art of reading and the imaginative potential of comics by bringing together local artists, comic book retailers, cosplayers, makers, and authors. 

Comicon will take place on Saturday, October 12, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Central Park Library.

Admission to this event is free, making it accessible to all.  

Attendees will have the opportunity to capture memorable moments with iconic figures such as Optimus Prime, Snoopy from Great America, Mecha Godzilla, and members of the Star Wars Rebels and Imperials.

Guests will also be able to meet and receive autographs from esteemed personalities, including Briana Loewinsohn, Thien Pham, and acclaimed author Francisco Jiménez.

This year’s panel discussions will delve into the rich history and cultural significance of comics:

  • Andrew Farago, curator of the Cartoon Art Museum, will discuss the 40th anniversary of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. 
  • DJ Lance Rock from Yo Gabba Gabba! will join Farago to explore Charles Schulz’s Peanuts comic strip.

Participants are invited to visit the library café area for photo opportunities with beloved characters, including Elephant and Piggy, who will also be present at Mo Willems Storytime. Here’s the photo schedule:

  • 11:30 a.m. | Snoopy from Great America
  • 12 p.m. | Rebel Legion
  • 12:30 p.m. | Elephant and Piggy
  • 1 p.m. | Snoopy from Great America
  • 1:30 p.m. | 501st Legion of Stormtroopers
  • 2 p.m. | Mecha Godzilla

    Not sure if you ever heard of an event called “Free Comic Book Day”, but it was started by my older, better looking cousin named Joe Field back in 2001.
    He is the current President of ComicsPro and also the owner of a really nice Comic Book store up in Concord called “Flying Colors & Other Cool Things”.
    Seriously he is a really interesting person, not like his younger less attractive cousin who lives here in Santa Clara….
    Vote what is best for the Residents….
    No one else.
