SUNDAY SPECIAL:  Former Santa Clara City Attorney Brian Doyle to Four Councilmembers: “Tell the People What You’ve Gotten Us Into”

By Robert Haugh

On Wednesday, former Santa Clara City Attorney Brian Doyle was interviewed by Stand Up for Santa Clara’s Dana Caldwell. You can watch the 30-minute exchange on their Facebook page.

Doyle has documented how 49ers CEO Al Guido negotiated bad financial deals for the City while he had an illegal conflict of interest.

Doyle discussed how the $38 million or greater loss will have to be absorbed by the City’s general fund and the Stadium Authority, as reported by the San Francisco Chronicle.

But the documents that reveal the details won’t be released because of four people.

The four Councilmembers who voted to keep them secret are Suds Jain, Kevin Park, Raj Chahal, and Karen Hardy.

“You need to tell the people what you’ve gotten us into,” said Doyle about the four on Wednesday.

The grassroots group Stand Up for Santa Clara is hosting another Facebook Live conversation with Doyle tonight (Sunday, November 2) at 4 p.m.

  1. Today is November 3rd… in a little over 48 hours I’m either going to be very happy or incredibly upset.
It’s not wise to set yourself up for possible huge let down, but in reality that fear has also been my driving force these last few weeks.
My fear is waking up to a City still being governed by one Stupid, Selfish, NFL Franchise.

If anyone in the future ever reaches out to me for any advice in dealing with the NFL, all I would say to them is RUN!
1st Priority Get control of our City Council again.
2nd Priority Never ever trust Jed York or the 49ers ever again.
3rd Priority Never give it back
4th Priority Never give it back
5th Priority Never give it back
You get my point. We just have 30 more years of this.

Vote….if you still need to register, ask at the Central Library on Homestead just off San Tomas EXP if you can still register to vote at this time. It is worth asking.

Voting is the only way we can fix this mess and get our City Council back.

  2. Were LG or Kathy ever asked to go with Jain to the 48ers for 67 seceet meetings?

Why did Beckee and Jain go the FPPC about stand up?

    Why was Field no reappointed?

Right here, right now I will lust the 9 things I publicly opposed that Stand Up stood for.

But to harass them is wrong!!!
    Wrong!

Stand up has a right to advicate. Their right is worth my time.

Doyle would have not been hired by me.

But his dismissal was done in violation of the law.

    The law!!

The obession Jain has for lisa and karhy

    Emotional obession

In thirty years, Lg made 5 mistakes
Kathy in ten years made 2.

    Oh, my
    That is about 91 percent.

From 2020 to today, Jain has had a15 percent effectiveness rating.

    Jude Barey

There a half dozen things I can citr that Nr Barry has done that hsve me sngry.

Three dizen Barry has done right.

    36/42

    Not bad

If he called me today and asked me for a favor, I sould hear him put and probanly do it.

    Same with Tino
    Jain, stay awsy.

  3. After your bond measure fails on Tuesday you people(city council)better agree to start making money from the city’s biggest assets. You are going start by making my tax on sports and entertainment a top priority. Also you are going to figure out how to make extra money from all of these data centers. Another 5% increase in electricity rates on January 1 is to expand the infrastructure to provide capacity for the growing number of data centers. Better get on board with my proposals or I will make things uncomfortable for all of you.

  4. It’s pretty odd that Lisa Gillmor and Kathy Watanabe don’t seem to understand the concept of closed session nor NDAs. Perhaps Doyle did a poor job of advising them. SCUSD trustee Vickie Fairchild has written about Lisa screaming at her when Vickie wouldn’t disclose from closed session. Where did Doyle or the SF Chronicle get the $38 million dollar number. Did someone make it up out of thin air and give it to the Chronicle? I certainly didn’t.

Of course there are all the documented reports from closed session when Gillmor and Watanabe accused Anthony Becker of being abusive to them to the point where Watanabe claimed she was shaking for hours afterwards. An independent investigation showed that Gillmor and Watanabe were lying.

Gillmor and Watanabe refused to sign the NDA regarding FIFA documents and so they don’t get unredacted documents.

Even Teresa O’Neill has insisted that settlement talks with the 49ers be done in open session. Do Doyle, Gillmor, Watanabe, and O’Neill really expect that negotiations on land purchases be done in open session where Council authority would be revealed to the other party?

Finally Doyle should know that Measure J protects the general fund from Stadium losses. All excess public safety costs for NFL games are paid for out of other revenues to the SCSA NOT the City’s general fund. BTW, in FY 2023, SCSA revenues were $76.462 million and expenses were $21.018 million for an operational profit of $55.444 million ! Most of that profit went into paying down loans and filling reserves like $26.117 million to the Demolition Reserve.

    • Maybe I missed it, but why don’t you want me to know about the deals with the niners? Describing how important it is to abide by secrecy agreements doesn’t tell us why you need a secrecy agreement in this case. And trying a smoke screen by bringing up irrelevant issues like land deals doesn’t help your case.
Why don’t you want us to know about the deals you are making with the people that finance your campaign. If you had any ethics you would recuse yourself, anyway.
And acting superior about where did this number come from, like you know and we don’t doesn’t help your curb appeal.
A lot of tap dancing with no answers, typical Suds.

    • Suds, why were you the driving force for spending upwards of a million dollars of tax payer money on a special election for changing our elected police chief which was doomed for failure?? The million dollars you wasted is the reason I will not entrust you with $400,000,000 of our taxpayer dollars. You are proven to waste our hard earned tax payer dollars. Once a new and trustworthy council majority is in place, I will consider voting for such a bond measure, but it is a big NO right now with the 49er 5 in charge of the purse strings. All of you need to be voted out.

PS Suds, were you given immunity by the Santa Clara County District Attorney for your upcoming testimony against Anthony Becker??? You have never answered this repeatedly asked question.

    • Suds Jain is clinging onto his last 15 minutes of fame. Enjoy, Suds. After Tuesday Jed will lose your number just like he lost Patty’s. You’re worthless to him now.

    • Suds, you are a major part of the problem here and a miserable lying coward.

We hope to see you driven out of town for all the damage you have done.

By the way, how good does it feel to have had your property taxes REDUCED every year for the last decade?

For the rest of us, taxes go up, but for you, they go down.

  5. For the record
Becker, Psrk, and Jain filed an Fppc complaint against Stand Up which was dismissed. The 501c3 paperwork was in order.

Santa Clara Now, the 49er “501” is currently under investigation.

I oughta know. I filed it.

Though I was a. crituc. RIGHT IS RIGHT
