Santa Clara is hosting a drop-off event on Saturday for residents to safely dispose of household hazardous waste.
The location of the event is a mystery. Mission City residents will only learn where to go once they book an appointment.
You can call the County Household Hazardous Waste Program at (408) 299-7300 or visit hhw.org.
Accepted items include
- fluorescent light tubes,
- CFL bulbs,
- paint,
- automotive fluids,
- cleaners,
- solvents,
- batteries,
- propane and helium tanks,
- pesticides,
- wood preservatives,
- prescription medications, and
- electronic waste.
Styrofoam, large appliances, ammunition, explosives, or anything over five gallons in size won’t be accepted.
Residents with unwanted or expired prescription medications can drop them off at a known location: the Santa Clara Police Department lobby, located at 601 El Camino Real. The lobby’s bins are open Monday to Friday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
