Santa Clara Welcomes Randy’s Donuts: A Sweet Contest with Stan’s Donuts Begins

By Robert Haugh

Randy’s Donuts is coming to Santa Clara.

The legendary L.A.-based donut chain will open its first Bay Area location at 2595 Homestead Road, right across from the iconic Stan’s Donut Shop. Yup. Right across the street.

Randy’s has been a Southern California staple since 1952. It’s known for its giant rooftop donut and over 60 varieties of handmade treats. Randy’s is expanding rapidly, with more locations planned in Fremont, San Jose, and Redwood City.

The Santa Clara shop won’t feature the signature rooftop donut, but it will offer all the classics, including glazed, chocolate-covered, and cream-filled options. Randy’s will also serve coffee and espresso drinks.

Franchisee Adeel Siddiqui, who leads the Sweet Rings LLC group, is excited to bring Randy’s to the Bay Area. He sees the region’s tech-driven economy and diverse community as the ideal environment for growth.

While Randy’s promises to bring variety and excitement, Stan’s loyal customers are already weighing in.

Stan’s has been a Mission City favorite since 1959 and has been ranked as one of the best donut shops in the country

It’s a beloved institution in Santa Clara, and some residents are feeling torn.

One Reddit user commented, “I like donuts. I like Stan’s. I’m sure I’ll like Randy’s, but I wish they didn’t open it next to Stan’s. Nostalgia and all…”

Others are excited about the increased competition and variety. “It’ll be fun to have a choice,” said another local. “I can’t wait to try both!”
