Santa Clara Picks New Charter Review Committee Members

By Robert Haugh

Santa Clara has created a new Charter Review Committee (CRC), the body that reviews and recommends changes to the City Charter — the city’s governing document. They are expected to make recommendations to the City Council for potential changes to appear on the November 2026 ballot.

At its Sept. 11 meeting, City Clerk Bob O’Keefe oversaw a random draw to select six CRC members by lottery. The winners are:

  • District 1: Holly Rhea Roberts
  • District 2: Mohammad Naveed
  • District 3: Joseph W. Sosinski
  • District 4: Burt Field
  • District 5: Lauren Diamond
  • District 6: Mark Boeckman

The Mayor and City Council also appointed the following seven members at last Tuesday’s City Council meeting:

  • Mayor Lisa Gillmor (At-Large): Pat Nikolai
  • Councilmember Albert Gonzalez (D1): Bernard Thamsey
  • Councilmember Raj Chahal (D2): John Brooks
  • Councilmember Karen Hardy (D3): Eric Crutchlow
  • Councilmember Kevin Park (D4): Steve Kelly
  • Councilmember Suds Jain (D5): Eric Jensen
  • Councilmember Kelly Cox (D6): Susan Peters

Their first meeting will cover Brown Act training, a review of the Charter and CRC bylaws, and selection of a chair and vice chair.

All good people who will bring common sense to the committee and have the best interests of Santa Clara in mind.

Only know a couple of them others but I will reserve comment.

  2. Anyone know these people appointed by council? Maybe 49er plants to get Suds’ agenda through? Some names are obvious. Michele Ryan’s husband, Eric Jensen, and Park’s loyal fan, Steve Kelly.

Voters be aware of personal council agendas and speak up!

  3. Mr. Haugh,
    Thank You.

Our job should actually be really simple.
When the City of Santa Clara thrives….then it makes sense that all the local businesses, and residents will thrive as well.

Remember our City slogan, “We are the Center of what’s possible”

    Kevin Park lied

Park told Judge in Becker case that Becker told him that Becker was harassed by Mayor and Watanabe.

City confirmed no such email exists.
