Santa Clara Mayor Lisa Gillmor and Hall of Fame quarterback Steve Young will headline a ceremonial flag raising this afternoon at Levi’s Stadium.
The event is scheduled for Jan. 22 from 2 to 2:45 p.m., and will feature a Santa Clara Fire Department ladder truck hoisting the official Super Bowl LX flag alongside a city “2026” flag in front of Gate B.
The Super Bowl LX Roman numeral display will also be unveiled.
Young is expected to deliver remarks alongside Gillmor and other city officials. The Bay Area Host Committee will also be represented.
Santa Clara is the only U.S. city slated to host both Super Bowl LX and FIFA World Cup matches in the same calendar year.
The flag raising serves as the first visible marker of that schedule.
The ceremony will take place at 4900 Marie P. DeBartolo Way, with parking available in the Red Lot off Tasman Drive.
City officials say additional community events tied to the 2026 games are planned throughout the year, but today’s ceremony is the formal kickoff.
Too bad that santa clara has so few dining and lodging options. Oh well, sunnyvale Campbell, San jose and San Francisco will rake in the money.
Having been to 2 world’s cups, in South America and europe..those people know how to welcome global visitors and host wonderful events.
