DA Jeff Rosen Reelected, Successfully Prosecuted Santa Clara Vice Mayor Anthony Becker in 2024 for Felony Perjury

By Robert Haugh

Santa Clara County District Attorney Jeff Rosen was reelected for another four-year term with approximately 60 percent of the vote.

Rosen successfully prosecuted former Santa Clara Vice Mayor Anthony Becker in 2024.

Becker became the first Santa Clara office holder convicted of a felony in the Mission City’s history for leaking a Grand Jury report to the 49ers and lying about it.

The DA’s Office said Becker leaked the report to 49er exec Rahul Chandhok before the report was released.

The Grand Jury report was critical of the team and its influence on Santa Clara politicians whom they spent millions of dollars electing, including Becker.

In April 2025, Becker was sentenced to 40 days in jail and two years of probation.  But Becker did not have to spend time behind bars because of the leniency of Judge Javier Alcala.

The felony conviction bars Becker from holding elected office again in California.

The case was a major public corruption prosecution and demonstrated the 49ers’ influence at Santa Clara City Hall.

Tuesday’s election results show Rosen leading challenger Daniel Chung with more than 60 percent of the vote.

Because only two candidates are in the race, Rosen is reelected. There will be no November runoff.

Rosen has served as Santa Clara County District Attorney since 2011.
