49ers, SVACA, HSSV Team Up

49ers Foundation Teams With SVACA and HSSV to Raise Funds for Animals

Even following a crushing road loss, 49ers players, Gold Rush and staff attended a calendar launch party on Oct. 17 at Silicon Valley Animal Control Authority. Tight ends Vance McDonald and Garrett Celek, punter Bradley Pinion and Defensive Tackle Quinton Dial signed the calendars for those coming to the event.

The 16-month calendar features several 49ers players in candid photos with adopted and/or rescued dogs owned by players and staff. The $20 suggested donation for the calendar goes to support services at both SVACA and the Humane Society of Silicon Valley, which held a similar launch party at HSSV in Milpitas on Oct. 13.

The calendar was the first 49ers and canine calendar since 2009, when the 49ers Foundation, SVACA and Canine Companions for Independence did a similar calendar.

The 49ers Foundation is the non-profit funding arm of the 49ers. Their mission is to keep underserved youth “safe, on track and in school.”  Since 1992, the Foundation has donated $34.6 million to non-profits.

Some of the organizations serving Santa Clara that have benefited from the Foundation include: 49ers STEM Leadership Institute, 49ers Academy, Bay Area Women’s Sports Initiative, City Year, Fresh Lifelines for Youth, Inc., Inn Vision Shelter Network, Mission City Community Fund, Santa Clara Police Athletic League, Santa Clara Schools Foundation, Silicon Valley FACES  and the Silicon Valley Education Foundation.
