Happy Halloween! I just did a story on how busy some councilmembers are, so I thought I’d help them out by providing some costume ideas for tonight in case they haven’t had time to work on it.
Mayor Lisa Gillmor
Brienne of Tarth from Game of Thrones — both are skilled in the field of battle, political or otherwise.
Vice Mayor Dominic Caserta
President Donald Trump — both are known for their temper and tantrums and they both write “sad” a lot on social media.
Councilwoman Patty Mahan
49ers cheerleader — she was their top “cheerleader” to get the stadium built. Now, Mahan has returned to cheer and defend the team.
Councilwoman Debi Davis
WWF’s Miss Elizabeth — She managed Macho Man Randy Savage and became wrestling’s most famous female. Davis “outwrestled” a couple men to win two elections.
Councilwoman Kathy Watanabe
Buffy the Vampire Slayer — She may be young (to the council) but she’s not afraid to take on monsters (and an NFL team).
Councilwoman Teresa O’Neill
Hermione Granger — They’re both studious and smart and don’t use cars much.
Councilman Pat Kolstad
Where’s Waldo — He lives in Santa Clara (sometimes) and Washington state (sometimes) and travels a lot too, to conferences and for vacations.
Let’s not forget about the other elected officials.
City Clerk Rod Diridon, Jr.
Dwight Schrute from The Office — They’re both in charge of paper and want to keep things in order. One of them does.
Police Chief Mike Sellers
Sergeant Schultz from Hogan’s Heroes — There’s been a lot of problems in the police department since he’s taken over. But Sellers’ response too frequently is that he “sees nothing.”
Comparing Dominic to Trump is unfair to Trump.
Trump has done more to keep campaign promises than 99% of the politicians I have seen in lengthy observations.
You may not like his promises, or his demeanor but you have to close both eyes and squint real hard to believe he isn’t trying to keep his promises.
So, I cry foul. You give Dom too much credit.

Very funny, Robert. This is one of your best columns. I use to love Hogan’s Heroes. The Police Chief does look like Schultz.
