City Council Preview: Several Affordable Housing Projects; 49ers Botch Routine Project Approval

By Robert Haugh

Tonight’s City Council meeting is pretty routine. Here are some of the major  items:

  • The California High-Speed Rail Authority will update Council on the California High-Speed Rail Project. This will be interesting since Governor Gavin Newsom announced scaling back the project big time. A lot of people don’t think it’ll ever make it to the Bay Area.

  • Two affordable housing agreements for projects off El Camino on Rambla Place may be approved under the consent calendar.

  • A $5 million loan toward an affordable housing project at 2904 Corvin Drive will be considered. It would be up to 145 units.

  • We will get an update on the City’s commercial cannabis policy. Maybe the policy should be called: Got weed?

  • The Stadium Authority will take “corrective action” on an unapproved stadium floor improvement at Levi’s Stadium. The 49ers didn’t get proper Board approval for a half million dollar contract. It was actually approved in the capital improvement budget, but the contract was never brought to the Board. The 49ers are required to do that. Oops!
