Silicon Valley Power Selects Electric Vehicle Wraps

By Robert Haugh

Silicon Valley Power (SVP) is wrapping its electric vehicle fleet with a new design to increase awareness of electric vehicles.

Kudos to SVP for giving Mission City residents six different designs to choose from via an online survey. After 215 votes, the winning design was chosen.

“We need to continue to think of progressive ways to help strengthen and repair our environment,” said Manuel Pineda, SVP’s Chief Utility Officer and Assistant City Manager in an April press release. “Electric vehicles will not only create future jobs for supporting a resilient economy, but also reduce pollution and result in cleaner streets.”

Funding for the project comes from the Low Carbon Fuel Standard Credits program to promote and raise awareness about electric vehicles.

This year, more than 75 new electric vehicle charging stations will soon “power up” at Santa Clara parks and other public spaces with another 300 to be installed over the next five years.

You’ll see the new vehicle design driving around the Mission City soon.

  1. Looking at registered survey responses, it appears that designs #2, #3, and #6 are tied at 22.4 percent each. Do you think there will be a follow-up survey?
