City Librarian Hilary Keith retired as our City Librarian on September 18. Her retirement was announced last February.
Keith was the City Librarian for six years.
During her time, she opened the Northside Library and renovated the Mission Library.
The Northside Library opened in 2014 in District 1.
Working with Councilwoman Kathy Watanabe who represents the Northside, Keith added hours to the Library operations last summer. The Northside Library expanded to Sunday and evening hours.
Also last summer, the Library received awards for a great Lunch and Learn program that served over 10,000 lunches.
We thank Keith for her service to the Mission City and wish her well in retirement.
Assistant City Manager Cynthia Bojorquez has been appointed as Acting City Librarian.
She’s served as City Librarian for the cities of Salinas and Sunnyvale.
An executive recruitment process will begin to appoint a new City Librarian.
I use the Mission Library a lot. The new stuff is nice. Thank you Hilary. Happy retirement.
