The Good — The Leg Drop Award:
The Santa Clara City Council decided to follow City Attorney Brian Doyle’s advice and state law. They made it clear that the 49ers executives who spend Stadium Authority money have to file financial disclosure forms. But the vote wouldn’t have even happened if Mayor Lisa Gillmor hadn’t seconded Councilmember Kathy Watanabe’s motion. That’s not something Gillmor would normally do. But she wanted to force a vote. Good move. No other Councilmember wanted to second the motion. Are they really that afraid of Jed York?
The Bad — The Jabroni Award:
The 49ers don’t own the stadium. They just think they do. They held a major press conference to announce Levi’s Stadium would be a COVID-19 vaccination site. But didn’t invite anyone from Santa Clara, not even the Councilmembers that they elected with $3 million of spending. Maybe we should re-vote Measure J.
