Best and Worst of the Week in Santa Clara: Rental Assistance Program and Transparency

By Robert Haugh

The Good — The Leg Drop Award

The City has been helping renters who can’t pay their rent because COVID-19. Santa Clara has done more to help our residents during the pandemic than any other Bay Area city. This is just one example. The deadline for applications is today.  Here’s a link to the application form.

The Bad — The Jabroni Award:

The majority of the City Council (Anthony Becker, Raj Chahal, Suds Jain, Karen Hardy, Kevin Park) wouldn’t adopt a rule that Councilmembers have to appear on video for Council meetings over Zoom.

Park has only appeared twice on video briefly since December. His excuse that he has a bad internet connection is weak and kinda fishy. He can just drive down to City Hall for the meetings. As the public said at the meeting, it’s not transparent when he can’t be seen.

    • The Best Week and Leg Drop Award will be when the winners of this Week’s jambroni award are removed from public service. Period. Their politics are certainly not what makes a municipality successful and it is obvious they are working together.

      Please make this happen soon.
