Silicon Valley Power (SVP) is now a Smart Energy Provider (SEP) designation. That means SVP is part of a prestigious group of public power utilities nationwide.
It was presented last week at the American Public Power Association (APPA) annual Customer Connections Conference.
“Utilities that earn the SEP designations are going the extra mile beyond providing electricity for their communities,” said Matt Hein, APPA’s Energy Innovation Committee chair.
“This designation celebrates utilities that are committed to serving their customers with leading smart energy programs and energy services. These communities should be proud that their utilities are focused on providing excellent service while planning for the future.”
SVP demonstrated leading practices in four key disciplines:
- smart energy program structure;
- energy efficiency and distributed energy programs;
- environmental and sustainability initiatives; and
- customer experience.
“We are proud to be recognized as a utility at the forefront of smart energy best practices,” said Manuel Pineda, chief electric utility officer of Silicon Valley Power. “This SEP designation represents our dedication to offering programs and implementing practices that work toward our Climate Action Plan goals to reduce our collective environmental impact, help our customers save money and support our community’s responsible energy use.”
Kudos to SVP for the award and for keeping electricity in Santa Clara reliable and lower than our neighboring cities.
