Goose Knocks Out Power to Over 1,400 Santa Clara Customers

By Robert Haugh

A goose took down multiple overhead power lines in Santa Clara yesterday and 1,422 Silicon Valley Power (SVP) customers lost power.

Yup, it was a goose. Here’s the tweet that announced it:

By late afternoon, power had been restored to all but 89 of the 1,422 customers impacted.

Earlier this year, SVP was named a “Diamond Level Reliable Public Power Provider” by the American Public Power Association for providing reliable and safe electric service.

The Diamond Level is the highest designation that a utility can earn.  Congrats to SVP.

But if SVP doesn’t get the award next year, we know who to blame.

  1. That goose looks familiar. I think I saw Jed York having breakfast with that goose the other day.
