The Wilcox Chargers (6-0) have come out firing on Friday Nights crushing their foes by a combined 228-84.

The Chargers started the season by cruising to non-league wins over upper echelon, perennial championship teams. 

The Chargers started their season with 35-13 triumph at Valley Christian on August 26, followed by a 38-14 win over Hollister on September 1, and a 42-14 win at Leland on September 8. 

The Chargers’ lone close game was a riveting 21-20 win over Menlo-Atherton on September 23 that went to the final whistle. 

The Chargers then crushed Mountain View 44-14 on September 30 and Milpitas 48-9 on October 7.

Junior Elijah Diallo Walker leads a multi-pronged rush attack, compiling 682 yards and 7 TDs. He also has a kickoff return for a TD. Senior Andrew Palacios has 490 yards rushing and 7 TDs. As a team, the Chargers average a walloping 282 yards rushing per game, with 22 rushing TDs.

The Chargers’ O-Line is anchored by junior tackle Justin Hylkema, who is listed at 6-foot-7 and 300 pounds.

Junior WR Maulidi Saleh leads the team with 264 yards receiving and two TDs plus a punt return for a TD. Junior Ri’yon Cooper has 155 yards and one TD. Senior Frankie Tagoai has two reception TDs.

Senior QB Armand Johnson is 49-for-78 for 843 yards passing with 7 TDs and 4 INTs for a 108 passer rating. He’s added 213 yards and a TD rushing.

Junior Jeramiah Lewis is averaging 10.5 tackles per game while Sophomore Brayden Rosa is averaging 8.5 tackles a game with an INT. The Defense has recorded 9 sacks and 7 INTs.

Senior kicker Anthan Wingate is 30-for-31 on PATs and 2-for-3 on Field Goals with a long of 40 yards.

The Chargers are looking to repeat last season — which saw them make it to the State championship game in Bakersfield after winning the Northern California title. They lost the California Division 2A championship to Scripps Ranch 31-28.

The Chargers host Palo Alto (1-5) Friday, October 14 at 7 p.m. at Fitzpatrick Field at Wilcox.
