Congressman Ro Khanna and Assemblymember Evan Low are planning to hold a Santa Clara Town Hall on Saturday at Buchser Middle School.
But Khanna may not be able to be there in person because of the chaos in Congress. There’s still no Speaker of the House.
Congressman Kevin McCarthy hasn’t secured the 218 votes he needs because of a split in the Republican Party. He’s fallen short on 11 ballots so far. That many failed ballots for Speaker haven’t happened since before the Civil War. Wow.
“We’re hoping Ro can make it back,” wrote Sarah Drory of Khanna’s staff. “But we will have a hybrid town hall with Assemblymember Low in person and Ro via Zoom if he’s still in DC.”
The House of Representatives will be in session until a Speaker is chosen. No members have been sworn in yet, including Khanna.
The Santa Clara Town Hall is this Saturday, January 7 from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. It will be in the Buchser Middle School cafeteria and multi-purpose room.
Here’s the RSVP form for attending. The RSVP does not guarantee entry since it’s on a first-come, first-served basis.
The event will also be live streamed here.

What is being played out in the house of reps right now is no better than our local government. They should be ashamed. DT is influencing people he bought just like Jed York bought 5 city Councilmembers.
What happened to democracy? What happened to “we the people?” What happened to public service?
How come there is an email march 30 where suds jain discloses comments made brian doyle in closed session

Our national leaders are as embarrassing as our local leaders. Nothing is getting done just like our local government because special interests hold our governments hostage. They bought puppets to do their bidding. For shame on all of you.
Hope Khanna is well and best to him
