Santa Clara’s Central Park to Host Magical Bridge Playground Groundbreaking Event

By Robert Haugh

The City and the Magical Bridge Foundation will hold a groundbreaking ceremony on Friday, May 19, for the upcoming Magical Bridge Playground in Santa Clara Central Park. The event is scheduled to take place at 3 p.m.

The Magical Bridge Playground aims to provide an inclusive space designed to accommodate individuals of all ages and abilities.

It will be situated within Central Park and is intended to serve the entire community, including those with physical and cognitive disabilities, autism, visual and hearing impairments, as well as the aging population.

The playground’s design features several areas, including:

  • a child zone for ages 2-5,
  • a spin zone,
  • a swing zone,
  • a slide mound,
  • an imagination zone with a two-story playhouse,
  • improvements to the existing amphitheater terrace seating,
  • a donor entry plaza,
  • improved picnic facilities, and
  • the rehabilitation of the adjacent Arbor Center restroom.

Funding for this project was made possible through donations from community members, the City of Santa Clara, the County, the State, and the Magical Bridge Foundation.

The estimated completion of the project is anticipated to be in the fall of 2024.
