Stand Up for Santa Clara effectively stopped the 49ers from taking the Youth Soccer Park in 2015.  

Now, they’re focused on getting indicted City Councilmember Anthony Becker to resign.

Yesterday, the grassroots group launched a petition.

The petition focuses on Becker “for leaking a Grand Jury report and lying about it. Anthony Becker faces possible jail time if convicted by District Attorney Jeff Rosen.”

“Vocal members of the Santa Clara community have repeatedly requested Anthony Becker to resign his city council seat, but he refuses to step down.”

The group also criticizes Councilmember Suds Jain who “knew that Becker leaked the Grand Jury report and chose to remain silent until forced to admit it under oath.”

But it looks like Stand Up for Santa Clara won’t be just focused on Becker.  

The group has created a website called ProtectSantaClara.com.

The site says that “Becker and Jain’s new agenda is to strip Santa Clara residents of the right to vote for our Police Chief and City Clerk.”

“The right to vote is enshrined in our City Charter and must be defended.”
