Rite Aid Closing Store in Moonlite Shopping Center

By Robert Haugh

The Rite Aid Corporation filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy this week and will close more than 150 stores nationwide.

Two local Rite Aid stores are slated to be closed, including one in Santa Clara at 2620 El Camino Real, in the Moonlite Shopping Center.

The Rite Aid on Homestead in Cupertino will also be closed.

According to the company, prescriptions at the closing stores will be transferred to other locations.

In court filings submitted Monday, the company said they are closing underperforming stores.

  1. This in terms of timing. Last night I was going to CVS for an over-the-counter item. I realized that Rite Aid was closer and was going to go there. But thinking about the two stores I decided I’d rather drive a little farther to go to cvs. Obviously, I’m not the only one that made that decision.
