Tomorrow’s City Council meeting includes two interesting closed-session items. A former City Manager’s lawsuit against the City is on the agenda. Deanna Santana was fired by the 49er “Four” in 2022.
An evaluation of the current City Manager Jovan Grogan is also on the agenda. He was just hired in February.
- Closed session — Conference with Legal Counsel-Marcus Dean Diaz v. City of Santa Clara, et al., United States District Court, Northern District of California, Case No. 5:20-cv-03506
- Closed session — Conference with Legal Counsel-Anticipated Claim of Deanna J. Santana
- Closed session — Conference with Labor Negotiators (Units #5, 7 & 8-City of Santa Clara Employees Association)
- Closed session — Public Employee Performance Evaluation – City Manager
- Present a Commendation for the 70th Anniversary of Nossa Senhora de Fatima, a Nonprofit Organization in Santa Clara
- Action on Stadium Manager’s request to approve an Agreement with Devcon Construction, Inc. for the Aesthetic Improvements – Premium Areas/Special Event Spaces CapEx Project within Stadium Shared Space and related Budget Amendment
- Action to Adopt a Resolution Approving and Adopting Updated Salary Plans for Various As-Needed, Classified, and Unclassified Positions, Including City Manager, and Approve Various Modifications to Existing Class Specifications
- Action on Written Petition for Council Consideration on a Policy to Normalize and Make Consistent Speaking at Public Events and Consider a Policy to Include Powers for Councilmembers to Declare Proclamations in their Respective Districts
- Action to Consider Releasing to the Public the Investigative Findings Prepared by the Van Dermyden Makus Law Firm Regarding a Complaint of Alleged Misconduct at the August 30, 2022 Closed Session Meeting
Your reference to the 49ers four is really uncalled for. Your reporting tells everyone about your one sided so called reporting…. Objective reporting isn’t what you are about…
Kinda like that biased question the 49er 5 put in the ballot to get rid of the police chief, eh Ray?
Wow
I really thought, our Former City Attorney, Mr. Brian Doyle would manage to squeeze in first, but looks like I am wrong again.
It turns out, that if you screw up something as bad as some of these 49er Council Members have, the cost to “fix” the issues might be something, none of us ever imagined.
One quick questions come to mind.
At what cost?
We may be legally forced to fix whatever issues that the 49er Council Members have caused our City to incur.
Then we will need to get busy and focus on some of the normal City questions like aging infrastructure.
I can think of one Iconic Swim Center that bears our name around the World.
That is coming from a Soccer Guy… I have nothing to do with the International Swim Center, unless you count growing up in the shadow of it.
At the end of the day… this is our story.
Our Road back will be bumpy, rough and expensive. But it will at least again be our road.
If we made mistakes, let own them, learn from them, and begin the restoration process.
Our City is worth it.
