The Gilroy Library is set to host a lively Day of the Child celebration on Saturday, April 20th, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. highlighted by a thrilling lucha libre wrestling exhibition organized by Wrestling for Charity.
(Note to readers: I run Wrestling for Charity and started organizing events in 2005.)
The festivities will feature a special performance by the luchadores, showcasing the colorful masks, aerial maneuvers, and theatrical flair that has made lucha libre wrestling an iconic part of Mexican culture.
After witnessing the high-flying action live, attendees will have the opportunity to meet the luchadores face-to-face and capture memorable photos alongside these real-life superheroes wearing their iconic masks.
But the excitement doesn’t stop there. Children in attendance will receive free lucha libre-themed paper masks of their own, as well as brand new books to take home as giveaways.
A variety of crafts, games and other activities will also be available to keep families engaged and entertained throughout the event.

Attendees can also meet members of the Gilroy High School wrestling team.
The Day of the Child celebration aims to promote literacy, cultural appreciation, and family-friendly fun within the Gilroy community. Hosting the unique lucha libre exhibition aligns with the library’s mission to provide educational and enriching experiences.
So get ready for an action-packed day filled with gravity-defying stunts, vibrant costumes, and plenty of luchador-inspired thrills.
The Gilroy library is at 350 West 6th Street, Gilroy, CA 95020. The library is a part of the Santa Clara County Library District.
