The National Weather Service forecasts heavy rain today until Wednesday morning and has issued a Flood Watch for the Bay Area and Central Coast.
The Santa Clara Valley Water District identified the following “hot spots” as potentially problematic. None of them are in Santa Clara:
- Uvas Creek, with potential flooding of Highway 101 in Gilroy
- San Francisquito Creek in Palo Alto
- Ross Creek at Cherry Avenue in San Jose
- Upper Penitencia Creek at Mabury and King roads in San Jose
- Guadalupe River at West Alma Avenue in San Jose
- Sunnyvale East Channel at Tasman Drive in Sunnyvale
- West Little Llagas Creek in Morgan Hill
In the Mission City, residents can report a clogged storm drain, flooding, or tree branches down by calling:

So why is the effort of Jef York to form a sports betting partnership with a Mexican casino so worrisome. Because Jed is carrying forth a goal of Eddie D, to link sports and gaming together in a venue that is unregulated. Mexico’s casino laws are out of date. I don’t want to wish anyone ill will but have to admit to being relieved we aren’t on the hot list this time.
I hope the water dept. did their job and cleared out the camp sites in the creeks. That was never sanitary, legal, or safe. And only they have jurisdiction as I understand.
