Today from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Santa Clara residents and environmental enthusiasts will converge at the Central Park Pavilion (909 Kiely Blvd.) for the annual Earth Day/Arbor Day Celebration.
The free event promises a day filled with activities promoting environmental awareness and tree conservation.
The event will feature a variety of engaging activities, including a live performance, a thrilling tree-climbing demonstration, and a symbolic tree-planting ceremony.
Exhibitor booths will educate attendees about crucial environmental issues, while a pedestrian rodeo will be part of the Santa Clara Safe Routes to School Program, promoting safe and sustainable travel options for students.
Central to the festivities is Santa Clara’s recognition as a Tree City USA community. The Arbor Day Foundation has honored the Mission City for the 38th consecutive year.
This prestigious designation underscores the city’s dedication to managing, expanding, and preserving our urban forest.
And Santa Clara has been honored with the Arbor Day Foundation’s Growth Award 25 times, highlighting the city’s efforts in advancing urban forestry practices and environmental sustainability.

It’s a shame this announcement wasn’t posted earlier. I would have been interested in attending if I saw it several days earlier instead of hours after the event ended :>(.

In years after, most were butchered and cut down and replaced with dumb weeds of “trees”–none of Santa Clarans will live long enuff to enjoy beautiful canopies of leaves.
Understand most of the Elms were planted AT the same time AND each had the same life expectancy. Regardless, the lovely “canopy” of leaves on the trees of Kiely are gone. Yes. Santa Government has responsibility to deforest our streets!!!!!
