Road Closures Near Stadium Starting Next Week Instead of During Spring Break

By Robert Haugh

Get ready, Santa Clara—starting April 28, the Levi’s Stadium Capital Improvement Projects will cause significant disruptions to local roads, sidewalks, and trails.

It’s unfortunate that this work wasn’t scheduled during Spring Break last week when most schools were closed. Now, whether you’re a daily commuter or heading to the Youth Soccer Park, here’s what you can expect in terms of closures and detours:

Tasman Drive – Eastbound Lane Closure
April 28–29 (9 a.m. – 3 p.m.): The eastbound vehicle and bike lanes will be closed for daytime work. Pedestrians and cyclists will be redirected to the sidewalk.
May 19–23 (24/7): The full eastbound lane will be closed for five days. Bikes and pedestrians may use a sidewalk detour.

Marie P. DeBartolo Way – Full Closure
May 6 – June 2: This street will be completely closed, 24/7. If you’re headed to the Youth Soccer Park, the Stars and Stripes gate will be your only access point. Parents, players, and coaches—plan accordingly.

San Tomas Aquino Creek Trail – Short Closures
April 28 – June 2 (7 a.m. – 5 p.m.): Expect brief 2–3 minute trail closures as crane operations cross the path. Flaggers and signs will direct traffic during these short interruptions.

Traffic control crews will be in place, and signs will be posted to ensure safety. Consider alternate routes to avoid delays caused by these closures.
