Santa Clara’s free summer concert series continues tonight with Orquesta Borinquen, a powerhouse salsa band. They’re known for their electrifying live shows and deep Bay Area roots.

The concert will take place from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Central Park Pavilion, located at 909 Kiely Blvd.

Led by trumpeter and musical director Bill Ortega Jr., Orquesta Borinquen blends salsa dura and salsa romántica with exceptional authenticity. 

With standout vocalist Carlos Xavier at the helm, the band brings soulful vocals, high-energy horn lines, and a rhythm section that’s second to none. 

Their sound reflects the influence of Latin legends while showcasing original material crafted and produced at their own C2010 Studios.

Borinquen’s performances are anchored by an elite team of musicians, including producer/pianist Marco Montoya, bassist Gil Roman, and a dynamic percussion crew that features some of the Bay Area’s most sought-after talent. Their live shows deliver both passion and precision — and always get audiences dancing.

Friday’s show is part of Santa Clara’s Concerts in the Park series, presented by the city’s Cultural Commission and Parks & Recreation Department. The summer lineup features live performances every Friday through August.

Admission is free and open to all ages.

Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, blankets, and dinner to enjoy under the summer sky. Food trucks may be available on site.
