A number of community leaders have spoken up and made statements about Councilmember Kevin Park.

“As a long-time member of a non-profit organization that works with victims of domestic violence, I find the reports on Kevin Park’s activities most egregious.  Is it written in the City Council Member handbook that you are above the law and that if you break the law, you can have it redacted or not investigated at all?  I don’t think so.  

I imagine that if any of us were not elected to a position, we would have been arrested, or at least have had an investigation into the events.   

We vote for our Chief of Police.  It is a privilege to do so.  But what does he and his department do for us?  The fact that Kevin Park has been allowed to get away with his behavior is beyond comprehension.  Our police department needs to be better than this.  Powers that be, i.e., District Attorney, Mayor, City Manager, please continue to stay on top of this and report to us the actions taken against him and the police department for not following protocol.

On another note, has anyone called Child Protective Services about his daughter?  If not, it needs to happen.  Leaving her unattended is not acceptable. And expecting city staff to watch her is outrageous.  I can only imagine this poor child seeing her mother abused, and her father’s lack of parenting skills will affect her for years to come.  Someone needs to help her.”

We are facing a significant problem with Councilmember Kevin Park. His lack of transparency, confrontational behavior toward residents during public meetings, and failure to disclose prior police activity at his residence are deeply troubling. These actions undermine public trust and raise serious questions about his ability to serve effectively.

It’s clear from your findings that Mr. Park is dealing with personal and familial challenges that require his full attention. The honorable course of action would be for him to step down from his position and prioritize his family’s well-being. Family should always come first, and the current circumstances suggest that he cannot fully dedicate himself to the responsibilities of public office.

Kevin Park is not setting the example that Santa Clara deserves from its elected officials. His ongoing issues have become a distraction, preventing him from fulfilling his duties to the community.”
