This weekend, Santa Clara Councilmember Suds Jain sent an email to registered voters asking them not to sign the recall campaign against him.
The campaign has Santa Clara residents signing the petition because of Jain’s actions to cover up convicted felon Anthony Becker’s crime, and Jain’s votes that are fiscally irresponsible.
Jain is clearly worried about the recall and his record.
Last month, Jain created a committee to oppose the recall and funded it with a $10,000 loan from himself, according to filings with the City Clerk’s office.
That means that Jain can repay himself by raising money from Santa Clara residents or an NFL football team.
Not surprisingly, Jain’s treasurer is Jeff Houston.
Houston has served as Jain’s treasurer in past campaigns. He was also appointed by Jain to the 2023 Charter Review Commission.
At the time, Jain’s communication and coordination with Houston were criticized by ethicist Dr. Tom Shanks.
“Jain’s actions are harmful to the public trust, especially in light of past Council actions that were brought to the surface by the Grand Jury,” said Shanks when Santa Clara News Online uncovered emails and texts between Jain and Houston.

Insiders indicate that Suds is seeking counselors for Anthony Becker after Becker’s meltdown last week.
