The Santa Clara City Council voted 6-0 to dump the study for Suds Jain’s Paid Parking Plan for the Franklin Mall.
After some serious pubic opposition, Jain voted against his own plan. Yup, seriously – at least for now.
“I think, at this time, doing the study doesn’t make sense,” said Jain.
But Jain left the door open for later.
“(It) certainly makes sense as we get further along with the downtown,” he added.
Jain called into the meeting from a remote location as residents spoke out against his paid parking plan. It wasn’t the first time he avoided being in the room for the discussion or taking responsibility for the idea at a pubic meeting.

Mayor Lisa Gillmor, who owns property in Franklin Square, did not vote or participate in the discussion because of a conflict of interest.
The $180,000 slotted for the study will be returned to the Public Buildings Capital Fund. According to City Staff, it can be used for Franklin Mall improvements, like the restoration of the fountain, which a few residents complained about during the Council meeting.
That financial decision will need to be made during budget deliberations in the next few months.
This was NOT Suds Jain’s Parking Study!! Quit referring to it as such because again it shows your bias
In several past stories, I’ve documented that Suds devised and pushed the plan. And the recall effort posted a video of him proposing the plan.
Suds never denied he was the master mind of the plan.
Anthony Becker, Raj Chahal, and Mary Grizzle are making excuses now that Suds had to abandon his plan because of a lack of political support.
Suds Jain is one of the most useless elected officials in the history of Santa Clara. He voted against his own idea. Jain set up the secret 49er meetings that convicted Becker
Well now, Mister Dillion, you lose sight of the fact that suds serves his favorite constituent very well. That’s himself, of course.
