21-year-old Jarren Advincula was drafted by the Los Angeles Angels in the Major League Baseball Draft. The Georgia Tech Yellowjacket was chosen 45th overall in the second round.
MLB reports Advincula “established himself as one of college baseball’s best contact hitters in two seasons at California,” adding “Advincula is a master of reading defenses and using his short left-handed swing to slap balls through holes for hits.”
He was named All-Pac-12 Conference as a freshman for the Cal Golden Bears after batting .325 with five home runs, 31 RBIs, and 44 runs scored. After that season, Advincula played collegiate summer baseball for the Cotuit Kettleers of the Cape Cod Baseball League and won the league batting title with a .392 average.
Advincula was named second-team All-Atlantic Coast Conference as a sophomore after batting .342 with six home runs, 33 RBIs, and 48 runs scored. After the season, he entered the NCAA Transfer Portal. He returned to play for Cotuit in 2025 and won the Outstanding Pro Prospect Award. Advincula transferred to Georgia Tech before his junior season.
In his 2025 season at Cal, Advincula was fourth in the nation in hits by a second baseman. He led the Golden Bears in hits, doubles, stolen bases, ranking him number four in the nation by DIBaseball.
A three-time letterwinner for the Archbishop Mitty Monarchs, he batted.412 (115-279) for his career with 15 doubles, four triples and three home runs in three seasons. He earned First Team All-WCAL honors as a junior and was named a MaxPreps.com All-American as a sophomore and named to the 2022 All-Metro Baseball Team.
He played youth baseball for Santa Clara Westside Little League, where he earned All-Star accolades. He was part of the 2017 District 44 championship Westside All-Stars team.
His father Jeremy, who coached the championship Westside team, played baseball at San Jose State. His older brother, Jonah, played baseball at Redlands and Washington State and was selected in the eighth round of the 2023 MLB Draft by the Cleveland Guardians, has spent the past two minor league seasons in the Guardians’ farm system.
