Santa Clara residents can trade the midweek routine for salsa, horns and dancing Wednesday night when Montuno Swing performs at Mission College tonight.

The free outdoor concert begins at 6:30 p.m. on July 29 in the college’s Central Plaza. 

Food trucks will arrive at 6 p.m., giving concertgoers time to grab dinner before the music starts. Mission College encourages guests to bring blankets or lawn chairs. Admission is free.

Montuno Swing combines salsa and Latin jazz with lively percussion, piano and a strong horn section. Mission College describes the group’s performance as an energetic, dance-filled cultural experience.

The show is part of Mission College’s 2026 Summer Concert Series, which brings a mix of Bay Area performers to the Santa Clara campus for free evening concerts. This summer’s lineup has included salsa band Mazacote, the funk and soul group 408 Collective and genre-blending jazz ensemble Jazz Mafia.

Tonight’s event is scheduled from 6 to 8:30 p.m., with the main concert beginning at 6:30 p.m.

The series is designed as a casual community event. Guests can arrive early, buy food from local food trucks and settle into the Central Plaza before the band takes the stage. Dancing is not required, but with salsa rhythms, pounding percussion and bright brass, sitting still may be the bigger challenge.

Mission College is located at 3000 Mission College Blvd. in Santa Clara.

The college’s final scheduled summer concert will feature Grammy-winning vocalist Tony Lindsay on Wednesday, Aug. 5. Lindsay performs a mix of R&B, soul and jazz and is known for his years as a lead vocalist with Santana.

For residents looking for a free night of live music close to home, Wednesday’s Montuno Swing concert offers salsa under the summer sky.
